Q.Is the video from DTV camera compressed?
In the digital surveillance systems such as IP and DTV, the videos from the cameras are compressed before transmission. H.264 and H.265 are currently the most popular compression methods.
On the other hand, in the digital surveillance system such as SDI, the video is NOT compressed. The lower data rate of compressed video allows longer transmission distance, while the uncompressed video eliminate the time required for compression and uncompression, so the latency is much shorter and can be almost “zero”.
In addition, because the video inevitably has to be compressed for storage. IP and DTV systems distribute the “compression” loading to cameras, while the DVR end of SDI systems has to do all the compression.
