Q. Does DTV surveillance system support wireless transmission? Is wireless transmission legal?
(1) Yes, DTV surveillance system supports wireless transmission. DTV is based on DVB-T standard, which supports wireless transmission inherently. Therefore, no extra module or PHY is required. One needs only to add appropriate power amplifier (PA) and antenna according to the target transmission distance.
(2) The legal frequency band varies from countries to countries. The following are some examples. (Note that the regulations may change from time to time. Please refer to the official announcement.)
United States: There are legal ISM bands in 902-928MHz. About 30 white space channels will be open soon.
European countries: after analog TV is switched off (ASO), It requires the opening of the white space channel
The short distance and low power radiation in a closed system should be fine such as the use at home or in the car.
